Resident fees based on ability to pay

You can live at the state veterans home at 700 Veterans Lane in Buffalo, which offers assisted living and skilled nursing care, with two-room suites for married couples and private rooms for single residents. Services include a primary care provider, nursing care, social and recreational services, dietary and laundry services, physical fitness and wellness programs, financial counseling, a veterans benefits coordinator, support services and chaplain services. Your fees are based on your ability to pay.

Call VHW Admissions at 307-684-5511 to request a pre-admission packet, then return it with your documentation.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing an honorable discharge, proof you have lived in Wyoming for at least a year or that you intend to become a resident, medical records supporting your need for care, and financial information so your fees can be set. A dependent needs proof of the relationship to the veteran.

Eligibility

  • You are a veteran who received an honorable discharge, or a former Wyoming National Guard member who was disabled in the line of duty, or the dependent of an eligible veteran
  • You have lived in Wyoming for at least one year at the time you apply, or you can show that you intend to become a Wyoming resident
  • You are unable to earn a living because of wounds, disease, old age or other infirmities, or you have no adequate means of support
