Virginia Honorary High School Diplomas for Wartime Veterans

Honorary high school diploma awarded

If you left high school before graduating to serve in World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War, Virginia will award you an honorary high school diploma. You, a family member or a veterans organization can request it.

Submit the Virginia Board of Education Request for Veteran Honorary High School Diploma to the Veterans Honorary High School Diploma Program, Virginia Department of Education, PO Box 2120, Richmond, VA 23218-2120, or email BOE@doe.virginia.gov. For help, call 804-225-2924.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other discharge paperwork showing an honorable discharge and service in one of the qualifying periods, and the completed request form.

Eligibility

  • You left high school before graduating to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You received an honorable discharge
  • You served during World War II between 1939 and 1945, the Korean War between 1950 and 1953, or the Vietnam War between 1959 and 1975
