If your service member spouse is stationed in Virginia, your professional licence application has to be acted on within 20 days. If the board cannot decide in 20 days, it issues you a temporary licence valid for 12 months while it finishes. Real estate, contractor, cosmetology, architect, engineer and interior designer licences are examples that qualify. Licences regulated by the Virginia Board of Health are not eligible for expedited processing.
