As a full-time Virginia state employee in a reserve component, you can carry leave over the normal carry-over limit into a military bank instead of losing it. Banked leave can only be used when you are called to active duty, and it is never paid out or converted into anything else.
Ask your agency’s human resources office to set up the MR or NG designation in the Personnel Management Information System and to authorise military bank accrual before your leave would otherwise be forfeited.
