You can claim temporary financial support if you lose your job through no fault of your own. Benefits are funded by employer taxes, so nothing is deducted from your pay for them. If you are a military spouse who left a job because of a Permanent Change of Station, you can claim on that basis with the right paperwork.
File a new claim online through the Virginia unemployment claimant self-service system, or call 866-832-2363 Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Your Social Security number; the name, address, phone number and employment dates for every employer in the last 18 months; your union hall name and number if you were employed through a union; your Alien Registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen; your bank account and routing number for direct deposit; and your DD214. If you are claiming as a military spouse after a Permanent Change of Station, also bring a copy of the PCS orders, your marriage certificate, and the written notice or resignation letter you gave your previous employer citing the PCS as the reason for leaving.
