Virginia Veteran and Family Support (VVFS)

No-cost case coordination, peer mentoring, caregiver support and referrals

You can get help with the effects of military service, separation, deployment, post-traumatic stress disorder, behavioural health concerns and traumatic brain injury. VVFS assesses what you and your family need and then coordinates referrals to medical, behavioural health and community resources across federal, state and local agencies. Direct support includes coordinated personalised care, peer-to-peer mentoring, caregiver skill building, support groups, and services for justice-involved veterans and service members.

How to apply

Contact your nearest Virginia Department of Veterans Services benefits service office and ask for Virginia Veteran and Family Support.

What you'll need

Proof of your service or of your relationship to the veteran or service member. A discharge characterisation is not required for veterans.

Eligibility

  • You are a resident veteran who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, regardless of your discharge status, a Virginia National Guard or resident U.S. Armed Forces Reserve member not in a federal active duty status, or the family member or caregiver of one
