Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Reduced Fare Program for Veterans with Disabilities

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)
50 percent off Metrorail and Metrobus fares and the seven-day regional bus pass

You pay half price on Metrorail and Metrobus fares and on the seven-day regional bus pass, and get discounted fares with participating bus operators, if you have a VA disability rating of 60 percent or more. The list of participating operators can change.

How to apply

Complete part A only of the reduced fare ID card application, then apply in person at the Metro Transit Accessibility Center, 655 Virginia Avenue SW, Washington, DC 20024, or the TRIPS Commuter Store, 8404 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910. What you'll need

A valid photo ID and a VA Benefit Summary Letter showing a 60 percent or greater rating, plus part A of the application. You do not need to complete parts B or C.

Eligibility

  • You have a 60 percent or greater disability rating from the VA
  • You can apply in person at the Metro Transit Accessibility Center in Washington, DC or the TRIPS Commuter Store in Silver Spring
  • You have a valid photo ID and a VA Benefit Summary Letter
