Washington State Military and Veterans License Plates

Washington offers 13 licence plate designs honoring service members, veterans, retired service members and family members. The individual plates the source describes, including the Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Disabled Veteran and Gold Star plates, have their own eligibility rules and fees.

How to apply

Apply in person at a Washington State vehicle licensing office, or mail the Military License Plate Application with copies of your required documentation and any fees to Special Plate Unit, Department of Licensing, PO Box 9909, Olympia WA 98507-9909. For help call 360-902-3770.

What you'll need

The proof of eligibility for the specific plate you want, which is usually your DD214, orders or a WDVA letter of eligibility.

  • You qualify for one of the 13 Washington military or veteran licence plate designs
  • You are registering a vehicle in Washington State
