How to apply

Contact the admissions or veterans office at the Washington school you plan to attend and ask about their tuition waiver for dependents. Each school runs its own program, so nothing is filed with the state.

The veteran’s discharge paperwork and VA rating letter or casualty documentation, proof of your relationship such as a marriage or birth certificate, and proof of Washington residency.

  • You are the spouse, surviving spouse or child of the veteran
  • The veteran has a 100 percent service-connected disability rating from the VA as a result of active duty service, died while serving on active duty, or was declared missing in action or a prisoner of war
  • If you are a child, you are between the ages of 17 and 26
  • If you are a spouse or surviving spouse, you are within the 10-year window that runs from the disability rating, the prisoner of war or missing in action declaration, or the veteran’s death
