Washington State Veteran and Service Member Owned Business Certification

Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA)
Free certification, access to a 5 percent state purchasing goal, and eligibility for the Veterans Linked Deposit Program

You can have your business certified free of charge as veteran or service member owned. Certified businesses count toward the Governor’s goal of directing 5 percent of state purchasing to veteran and service member owned businesses, and become eligible to apply for the Washington State Veterans Linked Deposit Program.

How to apply

Register your business on the Washington Business Solution (WEBS) website first, then mail or email your registration paperwork and supporting documents to the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs, PO Box 41150, Olympia WA 98504-1150, or vob@dva.wa.gov. For help call 360-791-1788.

What you'll need

Your WEBS registration paperwork, your DD214 member copy 4 showing an honorable discharge, a retired VA ID card, or a retirement or discharge certificate; a military ID card or Leave and Earnings Statement if you are still serving; proof you own at least 51 percent of the business; and proof your principal place of business is in Washington State.

Eligibility

  • Your business is at least 51 percent owned and operated by veterans or service members
  • You maintain direct responsibility for the daily operations of the business
  • Your principal place of business is in Washington State
  • You received an honorable discharge, or you are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces
