The state runs a 120-bed skilled nursing facility in Clarksburg, including a 20-bed unit dedicated to Alzheimer’s care. A second 120-bed facility, the Charles Calvin Rogers State Veterans Nursing Facility, is under construction in Beckley.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing your service dates, proof that you have been a West Virginia resident for the last twelve consecutive months, and medical documentation of your need for skilled nursing care.

Eligibility

  • You have been a West Virginia resident for twelve consecutive months
  • You served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, or had at least twelve consecutive months of active service in a reserve component
  • You need skilled nursing home care
