Spouses and children of deceased West Virginia wartime veterans can receive $1,000 per semester, and no more than $2,000 a year, toward matriculation fees, room and board, books, supplies and other necessary living expenses. The amount changes with how many applications come in each semester.

The completed application, proof of enrollment such as a tuition bill, course schedule, transcript or student ID, a copy of the veteran parent’s DD214, and if the veteran died after discharge, proof of death and evidence linking their war service to the cause of death.
