Wisconsin Disabled Veteran License Plates

Disabled parking access, exemption from time limits, and free metered parking; $15 a year to personalise

If a service-connected disability impairs your ability to walk, this plate lets you park in disabled parking spaces, exempts you from posted time limits, and gives you free parking at metered spaces with a time limit of half an hour or more. You can personalise the plate for $15 a year.

How to apply

Have a VA health care specialist certify your application, then mail it with the required documentation to Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Special Plates Unit, PO Box 7911, Madison WI 53707-7911.

What you'll need

The disabled veteran licence plate application certified by a VA health care specialist, plus your proof of active duty service.

Eligibility

  • You served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You have a service-connected disability that means you cannot walk 200 feet or more without stopping to rest, cannot walk without help from another person or a brace, cane, crutch, prosthetic device, wheelchair or other assistive device, causes difficulty breathing, requires portable oxygen, is a cardiac condition, or severely limits your walking because of an arthritic, neurological or orthopedic condition
  • A VA health care specialist certifies your application
