Wisconsin Free State Park, Forest and Trail Pass for Disabled Veterans and Former Prisoners of War

Free State Park, Forest and Trail Pass

You can get a free Wisconsin State Park, Forest and Trail Pass if you receive VA compensation for a 70 percent or higher service-connected disability rating, receive compensation for a service-connected individual unemployability rating, or were a prisoner of war. The pass does not cover nightly camping or other fees that are not admission.

How to apply

Take your documents to a Wisconsin County or Tribal Veterans Service Officer, who certifies the DNR application. Then mail the certified application to Disabled Veteran and Former POW Fee Waiver, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources PR/6, PO Box 7921, Madison WI 53707.

What you'll need

Copies of your VA Benefit Summary Letter, your DD214 or separation papers, and a photo ID.

Eligibility

  • You are a Wisconsin resident
  • You receive VA compensation for a 70 percent or more service-connected disability rating, or you receive compensation for a service-connected individual unemployability rating, or you were a former prisoner of war
