Wisconsin High School Diplomas for Wartime Veterans

Your local Wisconsin school board, with help from the WDVA
High school diploma awarded

If you left high school to serve during a wartime period, your local Wisconsin school board will award you a high school diploma. You can still get one if you already earned a High School Equivalency Diploma or GED, and a diploma can be awarded after death to an eligible veteran.

How to apply

Contact the school board for the Wisconsin school district where you attended high school. For help, call 800-WIS-VETS (800-947-8387) or email WisVets@dva.wisconsin.gov.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing wartime service and an honorable discharge, records of the Wisconsin high school you attended, and documentation of a service-connected disability if you are applying between ages 55 and 64.

Eligibility

  • You are 65 or older, or 55 or older if you have a service-connected disability
  • You attended high school in a Wisconsin school district
  • You left high school before receiving a diploma to serve on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces during a wartime period
  • You received an honorable discharge
