If you are a Wisconsin state employee called to extended active duty other than for training, the state pays you the difference between your state salary and your military pay plus housing allowance for 179 days, and the governor can extend that up to a total of six years. When you get back you can take up to 160 hours of paid leave, which has to start within 30 days of your release from active duty. If your state salary is lower than your military pay, there is no differential to pay.
Give your agency’s human resources office your active duty orders and your military pay information, and ask for differential pay.
Your active duty orders, your military Leave and Earnings Statements showing pay and housing allowance, and your release from active duty paperwork when you return.
