Applied AI Engineer

About the Role

As an Applied AI Engineer, you will design and implement AI capabilities that directly power the intelligence layer of the TurboVets platform. You will work across model integration, retrieval systems, structured and unstructured data pipelines, and AI driven automation. Your work will bridge Machine Learning, backend engineering, and product workflows to deliver accurate, reliable AI features that improve efficiency for veterinary practices nationwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and integrate AI and LLM based features into production systems

  • Develop retrieval pipelines, embedding workflows, and model inference services

  • Work with structured and unstructured data to develop features, pipelines, and evaluations

  • Collaborate with ML engineers to deploy and optimize models for performance and reliability

  • Partner with Product and Operations to translate real world workflows into AI enabled tooling

  • Implement monitoring, observability, and evaluation frameworks for AI features

  • Maintain documentation for data flows, model integrations, and system behavior

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 plus years of experience in applied AI, machine learning, or software engineering

  • Proficiency with Python or TypeScript and modern backend frameworks

  • Experience with LLMs, embedding models, or retrieval augmented generation

  • Familiarity with vector databases, search pipelines, and inference optimization

  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure, containerization, and deployment workflows

  • Experience working with text heavy or unstructured datasets

  • Bonus familiarity with prompt engineering, evaluation tooling, or safety systems
